Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Mongolia - Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dunes

Your expedition commences as you touch down at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, where you’ll be warmly greeted by your guide and driver. Drive to Elsen Tasarkhai Sand dunes. There is a chance to ride a camel over a sand dunes in the afternoon. Overnight stay at a ger camp. (L+D)

Day 2Orkhon Waterfall

Travel westward along the captivating Orkhon Valley until we arrive at the renowned Orkhon Waterfall. En route, marvel at the volcanic landscapes dotting the valley and gain insights into the fascinating nomadic way of life. Embark on a brief hike to reach the waterfall’s enchanting site. Spend the night in a cozy ger camp nestled near the Orkhon Valley, indulging in delicious meals. (B+L+D)

Day 3Tuvkhun Monastery and Tsenkher Hotspring

Continue our drive to the North. Trek to the mysterious Tuvkhun Monastery, located atop a mountain in the Khangai Mountains. Explore the monastery and enjoy the scenic views. Drive to Tsenkher Hotspring and relax in the natural hot springs. Overnight stay in a ger camp near Tsenkher Hotspring. (B+L+D)

Day 4Khorgo Volcano and Terkhiin White Lake

Have breakfast at the camp and pass through Tsetserleg town. Have lunch on the way near Chuluut canyon. Once arrived at the NP, we will hike to the Khorgo Volcano crater rim, and enjoy the panoramic views. Visit Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake (White Lake), known for its crystal-clear waters and surrounding landscape. Overnight stay in a ger camp near Terkhiin White Lake. (B+L+D)

 

Day 5Ugii Lake

Start driving to Lake Ugii with free stops on the way for photographing the charming landscape and wildlife. Arrive at Lake Ugii camping site. In the evening, hiking around the lake and enjoy watching the birds. Dinner and overnight at a tourist camp. (B+L+D)

Day 6Kharkhorin and Erdenezuu Monastery

This morning we will drive to Karakorum (Kharkhorin – current name) once the capital of the 13th-century Great Mongol Empire as you know the most iconic history of the world. You will feel the vibe of the ancient Mongols. Once we arrived at the destination, we will visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery, which was the first and the largest monastery built on the ruins of the ancient capital. Explore the monastery and visit several temples with excellent examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings and statues dating back to the 17th century. Visit the Karakorum Museum and discover the ancient Mongol Empire Monument. Overnight stay at a ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 7 Local Naadam Festival

Today marks the commencement of the annual Naadam festival in Kharkhorin, showcasing a vibrant array of wrestling, horse racing, and archery tournaments. This festival epitomizes the enduring tradition and cultural heritage of the region, offering an unparalleled opportunity to immerse oneself in the customs of this distinctive country. Indulge in the delectable local cuisine and beverages, and spend the night in a scenic tourist camp nestled by the picturesque Orkhon River. (B+L+D) 

Day 8Mongol Nomadic Camp

Drive east to our next destination. In the afternoon, visit the Mongol Nomadic Camp—a local ger camp showcasing the authentic lifestyle of Mongolian nomads. Experience the traditional nomadic way of life, including the breeding and utilization of five livestock species. Witness the nomads’ mobility between locations, employing ox, yak, camel, and horse carts. Explore the traditional craftsmanship in constructing Mongolian gers and antique furniture, utensils, and clothing, offering insights into the Central Khalks’ lifestyle from the early 20th century. Day 9Terelj NP and Chinggiss Khan Statue

After breakfast drive to Terelj national park where we will visit the tallest equestrian statue in the world featuring 40m tall Chinggis Khan Equestrian statue, Ariyapala meditation center and legendary Turtle rock. Enjoy the afternoon in the beautiful alpine landscape of the park. Overnight stay in a ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 10Ulaanbaatar

Drive to Ulaanbaatar. Visit the Zaisan hilltop memorial and the National History Museum. Enjoy an optional shopping excursion in the afternoon. Later, immerse yourself in the captivating melodies and dances of a traditional folklore concert, followed by a heartfelt farewell dinner. Overnight stay at a hotel. (B+L+D)

Day 11Departure
